Demonstration Against The Islamic regime in Iran
Hamed Esmaeilion (left), a leader in the movement against the Islamic theocracy in Iran, and Iranian music icon Googoosh, talk backstage at a rally against the regime at the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of the 1979 revolution. Thousands of demonstrators from across the eastern half of the United States called on the Iranian diaspora to unite to topple the regime and demanded world leaders do more to isolate the current government. This continues protests that began with the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini in custody of Iran’s “morality” police and quickly became a movement against the regime. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
