Riot Police Surrounded The Squat At The National And Kapodistrian University Of Athens

Riot police forces have surrounded the EKPA rector's office in Propylaia, Athens the academic head of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens which is occupied by university students and art school students according to local media. Police forces have surrounded the rectory since Monday morning, students of the university as well as students of the art schools, have proceeded to occupy the rectory, protesting both the ''Tempi Train Crash'' as well as for the degradation of artistic studies. At the same time, they claim the reinstatement of university asylum, the immediate repeal of Law 4777 and the new framework law for universities as stated in their announcement. Police sources state that they are at the scene for deterrent purposes, i.e. to prevent more people from entering the occupation, while so far there is no prosecutor's order to enter the building .
