Islandwide Strike In Sri Lanka

The Colombo Fort railway station was empty due to the railway strike on March 15, 2023, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The strike action has been launched over several demands, including the government's new tax policy and the recent hike in electricity tariffs. Doctors, nurses, and other health staff at several state hospitals across the country have joined the strike action. Teachers and principals of schools across the nation, as well as port and railway employees, have also joined the strike action. However, several office trains had operated from Galle to Colombo Fort despite the ongoing strike action. Due to the strike, army personnel have been deployed to guard the railway station.
