Drought In Northern Italy, The Aridity Of The Po River

The situation of the Po river remains critical after more than a year of low rainfall. In the Murazzi area, in the center of Turin, small islands have appeared covered in vegetation, in Turin, Italy, on march 15, 2023. The official data of the Observatory of the Po River Authority confirm that, at the start of the irrigation season, the shortage is of particular concern for the coming months. After a consistent drought throughout the course of 2022, the Po river and its basin have a water flow rate of less than usual. Long-term forecasts do not indicate that the weather will change with significant precipitation in the short term. Drought is not an unusual phenomenon, but the frequency with which it recurs in recent years is also becoming worried about the impacts it has on animals, flora, and agricultural activities.
