Protest Against Pension Reform In Paris

The main leaders of workers' unions including, the General Secretary of the CGT (General Confederation of Labour), Philippe Martinez, the General Secretary of the UNSA (National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions), Laurent Escure, the General Secretary of FO (Force Ouvriere), Frederic Souillot, the President of the CFTC (French Confederation of Christian Workers), Cyril Chabanier, CFDT (Confederation Francaise Democratique du Travail) General Secretary Laurent Berger, CFDT (Confederation Francaise Democratique du Travail) Deputy General Secretary Marylise Leon, lead the trade union procession in a demonstration to oppose the government's pension reform bill in Paris on 15 March 2023, the day before the vote on the bill in the National Assembly. The demonstration follows a call for strike action and mobilisation by the eight main trade unions and youth organisations. The French government wants to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.
