Nowruz celebration and memorial to victims of the uprising in Iran
Mina Yousefi, of the Washington, DC area, a celebrates Nowruz on the National Mall. The holiday has its roots in Zoroastrianism and celebrates rebirth and renewal that accompany spring and the new year, which begins on the vernal equinox. Nowruz has special meaning this year as Iranians continued to demand the overthrow of the Islamic regime in the wake of Mahsa Amini's death. (Photo by Allison Bailey/NurPhoto)
