Pelican Birds In Kerkini Lake In Greece
Large Pelicans birds as seen floating in the water of Kerkini lake in their natural environent in Serres region, Macedonia, Greece or flying around in nature. Dalmatian Pelican scientifically known as Pelecanus crispus of the Pelecanidae family are known for the long beak, large throat pouch, are a rare species, the largest freshwater bird in the world and has the conservation status of vulnerable and threatened. Kerkini lake is an artificial water reservoir created in 1932, a very important location for birds around the world for migratory route flyway, one of the premier birding sites in Greece and part of Ramsar Wetland, Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat treaty.
