Animal India

The common gull (Cepora nerissa) is a small to medium-sized butterfly of the family Pieridae, that is, the yellows and whites, which is native to Sri Lanka, India, China, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia. The butterfly is very strong in flight near the ground, and the wingspan of the common gull is 40-65 mm. After a long flight, it rests on an exposed leaf or bush. They feed on flowers of Tridax procumbens, Sida rhombifolia, Alternanthera, and Lantana. A common gull butterfly mating pair was on the leaves and almost camouflaged by the leaves in a forest at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 04/04/2023. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
