Protesters clash with police in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 8 January, 2016: Thousands of protesters gathered in downtown Rio to protest against rising bus fares and public transport. After making a peaceful walk that closed some of the main roads of the city center, some protesters clashed with military police. Objects were thrown at police and the police retaliated with bombs and tear gas. A bus was vandalized and would be set on fire, but the police managed to contain the most exalted protesters. Some protesters were taken to local police stations to provide information. No reports of injuries yet. (Photo by Luiz Souza/NurPhoto)
