Protest Against Armed University Police At GWU

Students protest at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. on April 17, 2023, after the GWU Board of Trustees announced that the GW Police Department will start carrying handguns beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. In a joint statement, GWU activist groups involved in the protest stated that "the school is presenting (the decision) as a solution for school shootings, but we know that arming the police only creates more danger.
