NHS Junior Doctors strike in London, UK

NHS Junior Doctors strike outside UCH on 12th January 2016 in London, UK. The strike is part of a dispute about NHS reforms. Junior doctors in England, have gone on strike in protest over the terms of the new contracts issued by the Department of Health and National Health Service. The new contracts, it is claimed by doctors, will see increased hours and lower pay. This is because the Government want to make NHS services available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The doctors still want to retain weekend pay. Some doctors believe that their altruism is being taken advantage of. The government claims, there is near total near total agreement on the new contracts in which there are a variety of other clauses. This is the first time, in over a generation doctors have gone on a national strike in England. (Photo by Jay Shaw Baker/NurPhoto)
