Meat or octopus sandwich vendor shows his T-shirt, prior to the disembarkation of the statue of St. Nicholas from the San Nicola Pier, Bari May 8, 2023. After spending the day aboard a fishing boat at sea, the statue of St. Nicholas returned to its namesake pier where under a light rain a mass was celebrated by the parish priest of Bari Cathedral, Monsignor Franco Lanzolla, before disembarking. From there, the procession then departed, accompanying the saint to Piazza del Ferrarese where, upon arrival, illuminations were lit for the celebration in honor of the patron saint.

Fears have sparked of a possible meat shortage in Canada after hundreds of workers at two meat processing plants in Alberta tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19. The meat plants affected by the COVID-19 outbreaks make up 70% of Canada's beef processing capabilities and have been temporarily closed while the staff receive medical treatment and are quarantined.
