The headbanner reads 'Withdrawal of the planned pension reform and rise of paychecks and pensions'. France's labour unions and left parties led a 6th wave of nationwide protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to make the French work longer before retirement. More than 60,000 people protested in Toulouses in one of the biggest protest in years. They took to the streets against the planned reform of pension and retirement age to 64 from 62, a move opinion polls show is opposed by a vast majority (93%) of workers already facing a cost-of-living crisis. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions will be lower specially for women, 'short careers' and low wages people. The COR (Counsel of Pension Guidance), which depends of the Prime minister Office directly, said on September 2022 in its latest report that it sees no needs to reform the pension system as it shares in the French GDP will remain steady at least 2070. Toulouse. France. March 7th 2023.
