Pictures from Idomeni on 29th of February in 2016. Idomeni is a little village in the Greek-FYROM (Macedonia) borders. About 10.000 refugees created a makeshift camp, as they couldn't continue to their trip to Europe due to the fence that was built from the other side. Military and police was deployed also there as FYROM asked for support. The result was more than 10.000 people, mostly families from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan staying in tents without any heating or electricity and passing the heavy winter of the area, (many days temperature was below 0°C) with the food distribution not being enough for everyone. There were some NGOs and UNHCR trying to help the situation.

The annual march is a part of educational program, which brings Jewish students from around the world to Poland, where they explore the remnants of the Holocaust. After 6 days of subzero temperatures, today it is sunny and the temperature is about 5-6°C. They try to dry their clothes and houses, to repair the ceiling in the houses or tents as they had water leaking in their place. Children although are having fun as there is still melting snow. As they snow melts it seems dangerous for the children as the houses and tents didn't have eletricity, refugees did their own wiring with connections exposed and covered by the snow. The governemt brought also some contractors with workers to repair major problems in the houses and also cleaners. Many refugees are sick and they need proper healthcare. There is doctor in the camp, but not enough for so many people.Still there are problems as there is not running water.
