According to the Geological Disaster Technology Investigation and Development Center (BPPTKG), the volcano erupted spewing volcanic materials around 12:12 p.m. local time. BPPTKG asked the public to maintain a distance of 7 kilometers from the Mount Merapi crater in the Bebeng and Krasak river flow area.

A tourist jeep is seen being swept away by the currents of the Yellow River in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on December 29, 22. Three tourist jeeps on the slopes of Merapi were swept away due to heavy rains on the slopes of Mount Merapi causing an increase in the Yellow River water discharge. Drivers and tourists managed to escape to the river bank, before the jeep was swept away by the flood.

The museum, which was founded by local residents, displays photos of the eruption of Mount Merapi and properties that were scorched by the hot clouds of Mount Merapi which occurred on October 26, 2010. The eruption resulted in at least 353 people died and 40 thousand residents were displaced.
