This Tuesday, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico, commemorated International Women's Day at the National Palace in Mexico City, where he was accompanied by Loretta Ortiz Ahlf, Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation; Victoria Rodríguez, Governor of the Bank of Mexico; Claudia Sheimbaum, Head of the Government of Mexico City; Olga Sánchez Cordero, President of the Board of Directors of the Senate; Nadine Gasman Zilberto, President of the Senate; and Nadine Gasman Zilberto, President of the Senate; Claudia Sheimbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City; Olga Sánchez Cordero, President of the Senate; Nadine Gasman Zilbermann, Director of the National Women's Institute and Andrea Chávez, federal deputy, among other officials. The President considered that the best way to fight oppression, labour exploitation, racism, classism and discrimination is through social and economic equality. He assured that women are the main beneficiaries of social programmes and that in Mexico, as in no other country in the Americas, more and more women hold public office. Also, different feminist groups demonstrated in various areas of the capital against male violence and feminicides in the country. According to the United Nations (UN), 10 murders of women occur every day in Mexico.
