The current drought and heatwave in France (as elsewhere in Europe) put the french national grid under strains. The lack of water pushed French authorities to exempt nuclear power plants of duties. For exemple, no water should be released at more than 28°C in rivers after cooling nuclear reactors, but, as the Garonne river temperature reaches 29°C, the french government authorizes the Golfech nuclear plant (amid other) to release water at a maximun of 31.3°C in the Garonne river. The French goverment says it's necessary to avoid a black out. Toulouse. France. July 22th 2022.
