The Italian Air Force, thanks to an agreement with the Ministry of Education and following the coordinations carried out with the Regional School Office for the city of Palermo, offered the students of the city the opportunity to attend the Aeronautical Culture Course, a completely free activity. optional, which takes place from 13 to 23 May for 250 students of the third, fourth and fifth grades of schools. The course is divided into two parts: the first week the young students followed a cycle of theoretical lessons that deal with the basis of aerodynamic principles of flight, flight instruments, flight safety and references to meteorology and air traffic control. At the end of this first week of lessons, on Thursday afternoon, they carried out a test of the acquired knowledge so as to create a ranking that allowed the determination of those who had the opportunity to sit in the pilot's seat and try to fly a plane. During the second week the students experience the flight in formation with a military aircraft, the S-208. To accompany them in this unique experience, the Flight Instructor Pilots of the 60th Air Force Wing. At the end of the theoretical activities and the flight activity, a final ranking will be drawn up and the winners will receive as an award the opportunity to spend an internship at Guidonia Airport, site of the 60th Wing, to wear the role of pilots of the Italian Air Force and fly with the Twin Astir glider.
