Violent clashes, riots and fights between students, anarchists, leftist groups and the police during the night in the city center of Thessaloniki. The incidents occurred during and near a concert of Thanasis Papakonstantinou, after a demonstration against the new educational law reform, the presence of the newly formed university police unit and slogans were shout against the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Small groups with their faces covered and hooded threw stones, glasses and items to the police and the riot police units arrested a person. Then the group started again throwing items and police used excessively tear gas and stun grenades to the area near the concert, where almost 5000 people attended. Tension existed inside the AUTH campus the past days. Thousands of people fled to Egnatia because the atmosphere was suffocating from the chemicals and the concert stopped. The clashes continued in the campus and then in the city center in Egnatia street. Police used the water cannon vehicle to disperse the protesters. Students, antifa, antiauthoritarians, leftists gather again and marched towards the university and the police, while burning trash bins and creating roadblocks resulting large-scale incidents. The traffic on the road paused and the road was closed. Police detained and arrested some people. Thessaloniki, Greece on September 16, 2022
