BAYEUX, FRANCE - JUNE 16, 2023: The official comemoration event at General de Gaulle Square, in Bayeux, France, on June 16, 2023. More than a hundred high school students, veterans and officials walked through the center of Bayeux to celebrate a triple anniversary: ​​June 14, 1944 - General de Gaulle's return to French soil, the restoration of the institutions of the republic; June 16, 1946 - the famous Bayeux speech, laying the foundations for the Fifth Republic; and the more recent creation of the National Order of Merit in 1963.
