Members of the NYPD Crime Scene Unit work at the scene where a 46-year-old man identified as James Gaines is fatally shot in the neck at the intersection of East 164 Street and Washington Avenue, within the confines of the 42 Precinct in Bronx, New York, United States, on August 22, 2025. On Friday evening at approximately 5:51 PM, officers observe a 46-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the neck. EMS responds and transports the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he is later pronounced deceased. There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
