The neem tree (Azadirachta indica) is attacked by termites and a palm squirrel (Funambulus pennantii) wanders around the neem tree to eat those termites, occasionally hugging the tree as if it is its protector. The termite feeds on only the upper dry layer of the tree trunk and covers that portion with moist soil. They never attack the live and healthy trunk or any other healthy part of a tree. Squirrels like the taste of termites. Raw termites taste like pineapple, refreshing mint, or carrots. Termites are a rich source of protein, fat, zinc, iron, calcium, essential fatty acid, and amino acids such as tryptophan. This photo was taken at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on june 12, 2023.

A common iora (Aegithina tiphia) bird backflips like a gymnast for insect prey in a neem tree or Indian lilac (Azadirachta indica). They are usually hidden in the leaves and very similar to the greenish-yellow leaf's color that they are difficult to find easily, they can only be identified by their utters variable “chirrs” or “twiii tuiii twiiii” chirping. This passerine bird is seen in wooded areas, scrub, and cultivated lands of the tropical Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This photo was taken at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 08/01/2023.

Spotted Orb Weavers (Neoscona sp.) or Barn Spiders in the family Araneidae are nocturnal by nature and they come out during the night, and have the peculiar strange habit of eating and rebuilding their webs each day. Huge webs orbs are built with sticky silk at dusk and used for snaring prey during the night. At dawn, the spider reingests the strands (along with moisture that has collected on it as dew) and recycles the nutrients in making the next web. The amazing web patterns of spiders have fascinated humans for millennia. In Greek mythology, a skilled weaver named Arachne challenged the goddess Athena to a weaving contest that ended with the human being changed into a spider for her pride. This photo was taken at midnight in a Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 10/10/2022.
