Paul Watson, founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and anti-whaling activist, attended a rally in his support at Place de la Republique in Paris on December 21, 2024, a day after arriving in France following five months of detention in Greenland. Watson was released from detention on December 17, 2024, after Denmark rejected a Japanese extradition request related to a 2010 clash with whalers.
