Students and local residents hold placards, flags and raise slogans as they take part in a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), at Jamia Millia Islamia University, on January 8, 2020 in New Delhi, India. Banking, transport and other services across the country were hit as trade unions have called a nationwide strike, with nearly 25 crore people expected to join an All-India strike to protest against the government's ''Anti-people'' policies.
