Piotr Duda, Chairman of the NSZZ 'Solidarnosc' trade union, attends the ceremonial meeting of the Gdansk Regional Board of the NSZZ 'Solidarnosc' trade union in the BHP Hall in Gdansk, Poland, on August 31, 2025. On August 31, 1980, the August Agreements are signed between the democratic opposition and the communist government. That month, around 700,000 people take part in strikes, and the newly founded trade union Solidarity attracts 9-10 million members. To commemorate these events, an anniversary is held in the BHP Hall of the Gdansk Shipyard, and flowers are laid at the shipyard gate.

The February Strike was called by the then illegal Dutch Communist Party, and Amsterdam dockworkers went on strike in solidarity with the 425 Jews arrested by the Germans previously and deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria. The February Strike is commemorated every year with a ceremony at the dockworker statue on Jonas Daniël Meyerplein, in the former Jewish quarter of Amsterdam. All political parties, as well as the city public transport authorities and organisations of Holocaust survivors, participate in the remembrance.
