The Syrian government extends its control over oil fields in Deir Ez-Zor following the withdrawal of the SDF. The Al-Omar field, the largest in Syria, is the most prominent, having changed hands between the Free Syrian Army, ISIS, and then the SDF with support from the international coalition in Deir Ez-Zor, Syria, on January 19, 2026.
