British Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday evening instigated an unprecedented UK 'lockdown' to combat the spread of the covid-19 coronavirus, instructing citizens not to leave their homes other than to buy essentials, for medical reasons and to provide care, to travel to and from work if 'absolutely necessary', and to exercise once a day. All shops selling non-essential goods were ordered to close. A further 87 people were today announced to have died from the coronavirus in the UK, bringing the total to 422.
