Statue of Sir Arthur John Evans, the British archaeologist and pioneer in the study of Aegean Civilization in the Bronze Age. He is most famous for unearthing the palace of Knossos on the Greek island of Crete. Ancient Knossos with the Minoan palace, the largest archaeological site of the Bronze Age on Crete island, Knosos near Heraklion is known as Europe's oldest city. Knossos was discovered by archaeologist Arthur Evans in the begging of the 20th century. Knossos is widely known for the throne, the Minotaur Myth and the fresco paintings with the most famous the charging bull. Crowds of people are seen walking on the paved routes, locals and foreign tourists are visiting the Minoan Palace during a warm sunny summer day, as the monument has increased numbers of visitors as it opened and operates normally after the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic without restrictions.
