Archbishop Marek Jedraszewski attends the Holy Mass with President Andrzej Duda at Wawel on the anniversary of the Smolensk catastrophe in Krakow, Poland, on April 10, 2025. On April 10, 2010, a Polish Tupolev Tu-154 military plane crashes in Smolensk, resulting in the deaths of 96 people, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife, deputy speakers of the Sejm and Senate, as well as commanders of all branches of the Polish Armed Forces. The delegation is en route to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. The president and his wife are later interred in the Wawel Basilica.

Polish Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz attends the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II celebrations at Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland, on September 1, 2024. On September 1, 1939, the Third Reich attacks Poland when the school battleship ''Schleswig-Holstein'' begins shelling Westerplatte. Poland is also attacked by the Slovak army allied with the Third Reich. During the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, flowers are laid at the monument to the Soldiers of September 1939 and the ''Krakow'' Army at the Military Cemetery in Krakow.
