In Suqian, China, on September 13, 2024, the ''Measures of The State Council on Gradually Delaying the Statutory Retirement Age'' is released. From January 1, 2030, the minimum period for employees to receive basic pension contributions on a monthly basis gradually increases from 15 years to 20 years, with an annual increase of six months. Employees who reach the statutory retirement age but have not met the minimum period of contribution may, in accordance with regulations, reach the minimum period of contribution by extending the payment of contributions or paying in one lump sum, and receive basic pensions on a monthly basis. Members of the Kerala NGO Association are protesting as they take part in a state leaders' fast to show their discontent with the government due to the cessation of their DA Benefits. They are rallying outside the Kerala Secretariat building in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India, on April 8, 2024. DA Benefits (Dearness Allowance, also called Dearness Relief benefits) are calculated as a percentage of an Indian citizen's basic salary to mitigate the impact of inflation. Indian citizens may receive a basic salary or pension that is then supplemented by a housing or dearness allowance, or both.
