The Big Island covers an area of 193KM2 and has over 100 crystalline water beaches, which are empty most of the year, being a perfect tourist destination for those who want privacy and even exclusivity because some of the beaches are uninhabited. The city of Angra dos Reis is comprised of 365 Islands, some are private and inhabited and others has public access. The Big Island has been considered one of the 7 Wonders of Rio de Janeiro, losing only to the sugar loaf, which is in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. There are several diving spots in the region with great natural wealth. On land there are springs and waterfalls that are a SideShow. The Ilha Grande State Park preserves 62.5% of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlantica) areas, whith very rich flora and fauna. In the areas of the Ilha Grande that are outside the Park, there are strict rules for occupation and touristc activities, ensuring the preservation of nature and historical heritage site. Some say that the area of Angra dos Reis and Ilha Grande form the Brazilian Caribbean.
