Huntsman spiders (Heteropoda venatoria) are a species of large spiders in the family Sparassidae, found in warm and tropical areas of Australasia, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean Basin, and the Americas. They are named for their speed and hunting mode. Native to tropical regions of the world, their common names include giant crab spider and cane spider. Huntsman spiders use venom to immobilize prey and are known to inflict serious defensive bites on humans. The female Huntsman produces a flat, oval egg sac of white papery silk, laying up to 200 eggs. During this period, the female can be quite aggressive and will rear up in a defensive display if provoked. Huntsman spider bites can cause nausea, headaches, vomiting, irregular pulse rate, and sometimes even heart palpitations. A female Huntsman spider was observed carrying its egg sac under its body in a corner and door of a house in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on 01/06/2024.

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys) is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, native to China, Japan, Korea, and other Asian regions. The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) was accidentally introduced to the United States in 1998. It is currently spreading throughout most of eastern and western North America, with the highest concentrations found in the Mid-Atlantic region. The BMSB is proving to be a nuisance for homeowners and can be devastating for farmers. It is feeding on a variety of plants, including fruit trees, ornamentals, and some crops. It is also entering houses in large numbers on warm fall days in search of overwintering sites. Adults are about 17 mm long and are shades of brown on both the upper and lower body surfaces. They are shield-shaped and almost as wide as they are long. The BMSB has piercing-sucking mouthparts and is feeding on fruits, seeds, stems, and leaves. It can switch hosts throughout the season, moving from plants with early-ripening fruits to those with late-ripening fruits. Most stink bugs do not bite, sting, or spread disease. The most harm most stink bugs cause is the ill-smelling substance they release as a defense tactic or if accidentally crushed. A Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is being observed sitting on potatoes and leaves of clover in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on April 2, 2024.

Yellow paper-wasp (Polistes olivaceus) or Tattaiyas is known for its intriguingly vivid yellow coloration, an uncommon characteristic among wasp species. Their unique thermal regulatory system allows them to thrive in varying climates. Yellow paper wasps contribute significantly to the ecosystem through their role as pollinators and as prey on certain insect pests. Moreover, their complex social structures showcase some of the animal kingdom's most fascinating manifestations of cooperative behavior. They are about 18 to 25mm long wasps that gather fibers from dead wood and plant stems, which they mix with saliva, and use to construct water-resistant nests made of gray or brown papery material. Paper wasps are also sometimes called umbrella wasps, due to the distinctive design of their nests. The Yellow paper-wasp bites humans actively and has special defensive behaviors that can trigger toxic reactions or allergic reactions. If there are serious reactions, seek immediate medical attention. This photo was taken at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 28/10/2023.
