In Herrsching, Starnberg, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany, on November 8, 2020, an elderly woman in a thick coat and headscarf pulls a red-dotted shopping cart as she walks past a graffiti-covered urban structure. The scene captures the contrast between aging and modern decay in the city, with warning signs on the doors, electricity boxes covered in tags, and a worn façade. The themes of loneliness, urban life, and resilience in a barren cityscape are emphasized.

Michael Lee-Chin Crystal addition to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 20, 2011. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the Deconstructivist crystalline-form is clad in 25 percent glass and 75 percent aluminum sitting on top of a steel frame. The Crystal's canted walls do not touch the sides of the existing heritage buildings, save for where pedestrian crossing occurs and to close the envelope between the new form and the existing walls. The Architectural Opening of the 'Michael Lee-Chin Crystal' was controversial. Public opinion was divided about the merits of its angular design. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is a museum of world culture and natural history in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

A traditional public house, commonly known as a pub, refecting light and the scene opposite, in its windows, in Stockport on Wednesday 13th May 2015. -- Signs of economic decline in the north-west England town of Stockport town centre. The 'Northern Powerhouse' economic, political and social policy is a response to the economic malaise of northern, former industrial, towns like Stockport. The Northern Powerhouse policy, introduced by George Osborne, is an attempt to redistribute political and economic activity away from the Greater London area to the North of England in order to re-balance the United Kingdom economy and allow the north of England to compete nationally, regionally and globally. This includes improvements to economic and social infrastructure and devolution.
