According to information from Luis Fernando Molina Londono in the title ''Plundering, deportations and internments: the fate of the Germans during World War II,'' he narrates that the San Carlos Fortress in Perote functions as a detention camp for citizens of the Axis of World War II, who are interned for reasons of national security after Mexico enters the war in May 1942.
