The Russian ambassador in Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova was also present at the church service. The Church was closed after Bulgarian authorities expelled the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia, Archimandrite Vasian, and two Belarusian priests and accused them of serving Russia's geopolitical interests.
