No Base activist throwing a flare in Pisa, Italy on Oct. 21, 2023. More than 1,500 people marched under incessant rain yesterday in San Piero a Grado to say ''no'' to the hypothesis of building a military base to regroup the Gis and the first Carabinieri paratrooper Tuscania regiment in the Cisam area, within the boundaries of the San Rossore Natural Park. The ''No Base Movement'' promoted the demonstration, which groups a galaxy of acronyms and associations of the radical and environmentalists left with memberships from all over Italy. About 100 people among the demonstrators who took part in today's demonstration against the construction of a Carabinieri base at Cisam in San Piero a Grado (Pisa)-forced the fence of the site by disengaging from the procession itself and entered the military compound, travelling a few meters before being surrounded by police. The protest then ended without disturbance.
