Scientists will meet in front of the São Paulo Museum of Art (Masp), on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, on 8 October 2017 to protest against successive budget cuts that are making scientific activity unfeasible in Brazil. One of the targets of the protest is the new cut in science programmed in the Annual Budget Bill for 2018. It represents a nearly 40 percent reduction over this year's budget, one of the lowest in history. Its value of $ 2.8 billion is 44 percent lower than anticipated before the cuts announced by the federal government in March this year and accounts for less than half of the 2005 budget and less than a third of the 2010 budget in values adjusted for inflation. According to the estimate of Knowledge Without Cuts, R $ 12 billion will no longer be invested in universities and research since 2015.
