An eritrean migrants in Calais, on November 10, 2015. Eritreans are beginning to form large numbers in the Calais camp in France called 'the Jungle”. The group is well organised and has built a large Orthodox church on the premises of the camp and many are deeply religious. They are building semi-perminant structures and communities of them live very close to the church they call St. Michaels built by migrants when the Calais camp first opened. Thousands of Eritreans are leaving their country every month, even though the country is not at war, nor in famine they live under a dictatorship and are looking for a better life in Europe. Many talk about the gross human rights abuses in their country. The migrants talk about living in fear of their government who they claim are killing citizens ordered by President Isaias Afwerki. Eritreans don’t have any written or unwritten implemented sort of constitution and there is no functioning parliament and citizens live in fear.’
