The Lisbon Metro company has installed a series of signaling elements to suggest that users wait for the distance in order to avoid a possible contagion of COVID-19, in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 20, 2020. The Portuguese General Direction of Health (DGS) launched new recommendations concerning the use of public transport, for companies, workers and users. According to the DGS, "the exchange of material objects between workers and users (e.g. payments with coins or notes) should be avoided and preference given to electronic payment", in addition to the already mandatory use of masks.
