During a press conference, police state that the NYPD receives a call reporting a man in a black Jeep Wrangler with a gun at approximately 5:19 AM on Thursday morning. Police respond, and as they arrive, they hear gunfire. Upon arrival, they encounter a 55-year-old man with a weapon. Officers give commands to drop the weapon, but the man does not comply and points the gun at police. Five uniformed police officers discharge their weapons, and the male suspect is struck by gunfire.
