The legend tells that after the Arab invasion Christian residents of Bejar took refuge in the mountains of El Castaar, near the town, where they covered his body with moss and moved to the walls of Bejar trying to be unnoticed among the vegetation. When they approached, Muslim Guards thought they were wild beasts and left the place, even they outnumbered those who were trying to regain territory. The tradition dates back to 1397, and is merged with the Corpus Christi procession in the 14th Century.
