Bishop William Barber (center) of the Poor People’s Campaign and heads of other organizations lead a short march from Black Lives Matter Plaza to a rally and civil disobedience action at the White House. Several hundred people participated in the rally, and more than 180 demonstrators were arrested. Protesters are demanding that the Biden Administration take the lead on voting rights and pressure Congress to pass legislation protecting the right to vote. Specifically, they want passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and DC statehood.
