Protesters hold placards, the left one reads 'We're the nature which defends itself. ZAD everywhere', the right one 'Let's us save our trees, no to the mega sawmill in the Pyrenees'. ZAD stands for 'Zone a defendre' ie 'Zone to protect'. Several associations, political parties and people united in a collective 'Touche pas a ma foret' (ie 'Don't touch my forest') called for a die-in in Toulouse in front of the townhall, the Capitole, to symbolize their opposition to a global firm, Florian. The sawmill company Florian wants to build a giant sawmill near the Pyrenean town of Lannemezan. The sawmill is expected to treat nearly 400.000 cubic meters of beech wood each year. For this, the Florian company will need to cut beech trees all over the French Pyrenees. It intends to clear cut forests. Protesters came from nearly all the French Pyrenees. Toulouse. France.
