Security is increased in the region ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 9, 2025. This follows a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 tourists are killed on April 22 when gunmen open fire on a group of tourists, which officials describe as the most serious civilian attack in the region in recent years. As a result, heightened security measures are taken for this year's Amarnath Yatra.
