Both Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad and Israel's military confirmed the ceasefire early today brokered by Egyptian and UN officials -- the usual mediators between Gaza and Israel.

Thousands of students, workers and civil servants took to the streets of Rio to protest against the proposed changes in the Federal Constitution (PEC 241 and PEC 55) and to protest against the economic and social crisis in the State of Rio de Janeiro, on November 11, 2016. After the peaceful protest, a group of black masked youths (Black Blocks) threw rocks, bottles and fireworks at the police, triggering a great deal of confusion. Some people were detained and press professionals were treated with truculence by the police, who threw pepper spray toward the cameras to prevent the recording of the images. A photographer was detained.
