NYPD Crime Scene Unit investigators mark shell casings and collect evidence in evidence bags at the scene of a fatal police-involved shooting investigation at the Home Depot parking lot at 2750 Veterans Road W in Charleston, Staten Island, New York, United States, on March 6, 2025. During a press conference, police state that the NYPD receives a call reporting a man in a black Jeep Wrangler with a gun at approximately 5:19 AM on Thursday morning. Police respond, and as they arrive, they hear gunfire. Upon arrival, they encounter a 55-year-old man with a weapon. Officers give commands to drop the weapon, but the man does not comply and points the gun at police. Five uniformed police officers discharge their weapons, and the male suspect is struck by gunfire. The suspect is transported to the hospital, where he is pronounced dead. Officers are evaluated at the hospital and are not injured. The firearm and shell casings are recovered at the scene.
