Asylum seekers crossing the highway as they begin their trip to Europe at the famous Balkan Route, a refugee path to Central Europe, famous for the huge flows in 2015 and 2016. Refugees and migrants as seen near Idomeni and Evzoni border crossing, a few meters before the borderline between Greece and Northern Macedonia. The group claims to be from Syria. Refugees come at the borders on foot walking, for resting and sleeping and then continuing their trip. They live in the forest or near the river or in abandoned buildings, then wait and form groups to cross the borders in the mountains and reach other European countries like Germany, France, Sweden etc via the Balkan route. Refugees and migrants arrive at the train station from Turkey directly or Thessaloniki after a long multi-day journey on foot following marked routes in social media or the train rails and highway but others via smugglers paying around 2500 euro to move them from Turkey here. The specific group paid 3000 euro to smugglers. Some of them complained for pushbacks from the N. Macedonian police after treating them violently and beating them. The railway station and the fenced part of the borders were guarded by Greek police and European Frontex forces. Most of the groups at the borders were from Afghanistan, some from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Pakistan, and Morocco. The flows of people arriving from Turkey are increasing every day as the refugee and migrant crisis is still ongoing, a real humanitarian crisis. Eidomeni, Greece on November 2022

Tourist path is seen in Bialowieza Forest as the National Park is fully open for tourist for the first time since September 2021 when Poland prohibited entering the zone near Belarus border - July 1, 2022 in Bialowieza, Poland. The ban was lifted as Poland build a 186 kilometer long and 5.5 meter high steel barrier with barbed wire on the Polish - Belarus border, which is as well the border of the European Union and NATO. The decision was made after thousands of migrants, mainly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan tried to cross into Poland from Belarus. Part of the barrier passes through Bialowieza forest. The decision was highly controversial as Bialowieza wilderness is one of the very few remaining primeval forests and the barrier will destroy natural habitats of endangered animal species. The government of Belarus was accused of orchestrating the migration, with help from Russia. The pressure on the Polish border is today seen as the first step of a larger plan of Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, to destabilise the European Union.

Migrants, most with children follow a path along the concertina wire where ultimatley they will placed under guard by Border Patrol after having crossed the Rio Grande on May 27 2022 in Eagle Pass Texas, USA. Title 42, the Trump era mandate which was set to prevent migrants from entering the US, was to expire on May 23 but was blocked by a lawsuit filed by several states citing that the move to strike down the law “failed to meet standards set by the Administrative Procedure Act” and that there is no permanent solution to handling the inevitable surge in immigration. Opponents to upholding of the law voiced their demands stating that Title 42 is illegal in that it violates immigration laws that prevents immigrants from their right to seek asylum. Since the implementation of Title 42 in March 2020, US Customs and Border Protection has effected “more than 1.8 million expulsions, mostly on the southern border of the US-Mexico Border”.
