Kalpana Sharma, a candidate from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), files her nomination to stand in the upcoming election for the House of Representatives in Nepal on March 5. On January 20, 2026, the Election Commission establishes offices in all 165 constituencies across Nepal as the nation prepares for the March 5 election to elect new members for its House of Representatives. Earlier, the Commission publishes the final list of candidates under the proportional representation system. Of the total 275 members of the House of Representatives, 110 are elected through the proportional system, while 165 are elected through the direct electoral system. An interim government, formed for election purposes following the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9, arranges the necessary resources for the polls. The process of selecting police personnel for election security has already begun.

Shankar Pokhrel, the general secretary candidate in the ongoing 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML, announces the postponement of the election process in Kathmandu, Nepal, on December 16, 2025. The contest for the new leadership of CPN-UML (Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist) intensifies as incumbent chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel face each other with separate panels. As per the published list by the party's election committee, incumbent chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel file their candidacies for the chairmanship. Candidates also register from their respective panels as well as independently for other office-bearer positions and central committee membership. Under the party's amended statute, there are five vice-chairperson posts, for which 11 candidates file nominations. For the nine Secretary positions, 20 candidates contest. Additionally, more than 1,000 candidates file nominations for central committee membership from various geographical areas and sectors.
