On the occasion of Act 18 the Yellow Vests (gilets jaunes) had called to converge mass on Paris on March 16, 2019 to launch "an ultimatum to Macron" the day after the closure of consultations for the Great Debate organized by the executive to try to provide answers to this social crisis that has shaken the country since 17 November. But after four months of mobilization, their main demands (Citizen Initiative-RIC referendum, restoration of the ISF, lower taxes on basic necessities) were swept by the government. Worse, the price of fuel has returned to the same level that triggered the movement. The protesters also contest the vote on the "anti-thugs" law, which violates the right to protest. In parallel, two other events (the "March of the Century" for the Climate and the "Solidarity Walk" against police violence and "state racism") were taking place at the same time in Paris, the various processions having more or less aggregated during the day. In this context, thousands of people demonstrated in the streets of the capital this Saturday Among them many radical elements forming a "black bloc" violently met the police in the district of Champs-Élysées and street furniture and shops and restaurants (including Fouquet's) on the avenue.
