This tradition marks the symbolic transition from childhood to a new stage of maturity, surrounded by family and friends. This year's celebration is called ''Golden Quinceanera,'' referring to the fact that these women, for one reason or another, have not previously had such a celebration. They are able to do so thanks to the support of the Iztapalapa borough and several boutiques that donate dresses for this special occasion.
